14 Days Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu
On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
Your hotel is in the city’s center, the vibrant and colorful area known as Thamel. With its restaurants, bars, and shops with unique Nepali handcrafted items and trekking gear, this is an interesting place to spend the afternoon.
There will be the opportunity to meet your guide today and ask any questions you may still have about your trip to Everest Base Camp.
Day 2: Kathmandu to Lukla (Flight) to Phakding
Flight time : 35 to 40 mins
Altitude: 8,563 ft (2,610 m)
Trek Duration: 3-4 hours, 6.2 Kms
Due to changes in the regulations and upgrading at the domestic airport in Kathmandu, flights to Lukla will likely operate out of Manthali Airport in Ramechhap District.
This involves a four-hour drive from Kathmandu during the night. The flight from Manthali will depart early in the morning and take 20 minutes.
On arrival in Lukla, our experienced local porters will meet you. Heading down the trail to Phakding, we already notice the fluttering Tibetan prayer flags and meet local people reciting Tibetan mantras as they walk. Overnight at Lodge.
Day 3: Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 11,286 ft (3,440 m)
Trek Duration: 5-6 hours, 7.4 Kms
Today the trail takes us through forests, traditional villages with plowed fields, and yak pastures. As we reach the entry to the Sagarmatha National Park, we can see Mt. Thamserku rising above us…
After lunch, we continue on to Namche Bazaar. This is the largest Sherpa village in the Khumbu Region and is the starting point for expeditions and trekking groups. Here you can purchase a few last minutes items (such as chocolate) should you have forgotten to do so in Kathmandu.
Overnight at Tea House / Guest house
Day 4: Namche Bazaar Acclimatisation
Today is an acclimatization day to allow our bodies to adjust to the high altitude. But that doesn’t mean we do anything! The best way to acclimatize is to be active. Spend a few hours hiking around the area or visit the school set by Sir Edmund Hillary in the Khumjung village as a thank you for all the assistance the Sherpa people gave him in his successful ascent of Mt Everest.
Some of the mountains you can see today are Kwangde (6,011m), Thamserku (6,623m), Kangtega (6,782m), Nuptse (7,861m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam (6,812m) and, of course, Mount Everest (8,848m).
Day 5: Namche to Tengboche
Altitude: 12,697 ft (3,870 m)
Trek Duration: 5 -6 hours, 10 Km
Upon breakfast in Namche, we set out towards Tengboche, enjoying the superb views. The trail today is more or less smooth with few ascents and descents. The trail up to Tengboche is a dusty switchback route, but the panoramic views from the monastery make it all worthwhile. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 6: Tengboche to Dingboche
Altitude: 14,468 ft (4,410m)
Trek Duration: 5-6 hours, 12 Km
The trail is, of course, very scenic but also quite challenging today. We follow the Imja Khola before climbing up to Dingboche’s windswept fields (mainly potato). This is the highest Sherpa settlement in the Khumbu Region. Ama Dablam’s views from here are spectacular and dramatic as we will arrive at Dingboche in time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free to relax with a book or gaze at the surrounding mountains.
On arrival at Dingboche, overnight at lodge.
Day 7: Dingboche Acclimatisation
With the ever-rising altitude, it is important to take another day to acclimatize. There are several options available for short hikes today.
Such as visiting the base of Nangkar Tshang Peak, with its sacred sites and views of Mt Makalu. This trip is a 3.5 to 5 hours round trip, and the ascending altitude on this hike will help our bodies prepare for the high altitudes ahead.
Overnight at lodge.
Day 8: Dingboche to Lobuche
Altitude: 16,207 ft/ 4,940 m
Trek Duration: 4-5hours, 7 Km
Today the trek begins with a gentle climb toward the Pheriche Valley. Trekking above the valley floor, we pass through alpine scrub and yak pastures. On display are Tawoch and Cholotse, with Ama Dablam behind us. From here, it appears Ama Dablam is rising directly from the valley floor.
The trail continues on to Thokla Pass, where the ascent is challenging. Again a photographer’s paradise as there are panoramic views of Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, and a few other 7,000-plus meter peaks!
After crossing the pass, we reach Lobuche. Not a very attractive settlement in itself, but the scenery surrounding it is beautiful and dramatic.
Overnight at the lodge.
Day 9: Gorakshep / Everest Base Camp
Altitude: 16,962 ft – 17,598 ft (5,364 m)
Trek Duration: 3+5 hours, 6+9 Km
This is the most exciting day! Today we ascent to the viewpoint for Everest. First, the trail takes us for about 3 to 5 hours over boulders and rough terrain to the small settlement of Gorakshep.
After lunch, it starts out for Kalapatthar, from where you can enjoy or click the best views of Everest. At 5,545m, this is the highest altitude we can trek in Nepal without requiring climbing permits. The name means black rock, which is more of a ridge than a mountain.
If the weather is not clear, we may leave Kalapatthar for the morning as sunrise over Everest is equally awe-inspiring as the sunset. Should we decide on this option, we will hike to Everest Base Camp today. Please be aware trekking groups do not go right into the base camp where expeditions are set up.
This is to not disturb the climbers’ activity or risk their health. (We don’t want to give them our colds and flu when they embark on such an epic journey!) But we get a good view of all the ongoing activity. Overnight at lodge.
Day 10: Kalapathar Summit / Pheriche
Altitude: 18,192 ft / 5,545 m – 14,341ft/ 4,371 m
Trek Duration: 3+4 hours, 6+10 Km
Today is the climax of our trip. We start early in the morning to catch the dramatic views from Kala Patthar and witness the first light of day caress the peaks of the mountains, particularly, Mt. Everest. However, we need to prepare for an early morning departure, amid predawn darkness and cold temperature (-10 to -14 C).
Further, nomad there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself. During the ascent to Kala Patthar, we can pause to catch a breath at several outstanding viewpoints from where we can snap great pictures. After several hours of ascent, we reach Kala Patthar. From Kala Patthar, we scramble up to the top of a rocky outcrop marked by cairns and prayer flags. Mind-blowing Himalayan panorama unfolds before our eyes as they wander
Return to Gorak Shep and after breakfast trek back to Periche overnight at a lodge.
Day 11: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 11,286 ft (3,440 m)
Trek Duration: 6-7 hours, 16 Km
The trail descends quite considerably today, but some uphills must be tackled! As we approach Namche, the forests and greenery return.
This is a long day of walking, made harder by the hard hiking the day before. But push on because a good dinner and a hot shower await! And now is the opportunity to celebrate your successful trek to Everest Base Camp with a beer!
And with wifi available, now is also time to get in touch with loved ones at home and perhaps upload a few pictures of your trip.
Day 12: Namche to Lukla
Altitude: 9,317 ft/2,840 m
Trek Duration: 5 to 7 hours, 16 Km
Start your descent back to Lukla from Namche Bazaar, the trek will take 7 hours. Reach Lukla and spend the night in Lukla.
Day 13: Lukla - Kathmandu
Take your flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. Depending on which airport is open at that time and, of course, weather conditions, either we will be back in Kathmandu for brunch or in the early afternoon.Take a rest on this day or visit the Pashupatinath Temple. Stay the night in Kathmandu.

Things to Expect When You Trek to Everest Base Camp
Get ready for stunning views of the Himalayas, green lush valleys, indigenous culture and food, and the experience of a dramatic landscape diversity if you go for a trek to Everest Base Camp.
The classic trail to the base camp is one of the prominent in Nepal and has different interesting stories and tales. It is considered to be one of the famous trekking regions in the world. The trail follows all the way to the base of the world’s highest mountain, Everest and offers undiluted views of the surrounding mountains, historic Sherpa villages and the beautiful hills.
As you already know, there are many attractions all along the trek that will make you embark on a grand walk in the lap of the Himalayas. Among those attractions, Mount Everest tops the list.
The fact that you can’t actually see Everest from the base camp is quite disappointing although
you get splendid views of Everest from other parts of the trek. Everest towers above the Khumbu region at about 8848 meters above sea level and is the most sought out mountains to climb.
The adventurous journey gives you vistas of some famous peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama
Dablam, etc., Dudh Koshi river and some picturesque villages. The trek offers you the perfect
thrill and adventure but might also surprise you when you finally get there. These are the topthings to expect when you trek to Everest Base Camp:
Thrilling Lukla flight
To get to Lukla from Kathmandu, you will brave an early morning 40-minute flight in a small aircraft. From Lukla, you will trek to Phakding for 3 hours, passing through Sherpa villages, and shrines and monasteries of Drangdrak Gompa and Pema Choling Gompa. In this trek, you will have quick opportunities to immerse in the breathtaking views of sacred mountain Khumbila and Kusum Kangaru.
Wi-fi services en route to Base Camp
While you must be thinking that places like Namche, Lukla, Tengboche in the Everest region have good wi-fi service, it is not the case. Yes, if you pay a certain amount then you’re bound to get the unlimited wi-fi coverage, but the connection is not strong enough. Recently, the Everest Link service is really popular in the area. From Lukla, you could buy small recharge cards of Everest Link and it will be active all the way to Base Camp and back.
Accommodation while trekking
You will stay mostly in teahouses all along the trek.Teahouses are small lodges to get rest and eat food, generally fitted with a central heating system. Other trekking regions in Nepal also have teahouses and this region is no exception. It is a great place to socialize and interact with other fellow trekkers making it a fun experience for you. If you’re not a social person, you can enjoy your book while sitting beside the fireplace.
Unbeatable stunning views of the Himalayas
The breathtaking views while trekking to the Everest region cannot be compared to any other.
You get to see stunning landscapes and glacier moraines too. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama
Dablam, Tobuche and Cho Oyu are some of the mountains frequently seen during the trek.
Culture of the Sherpa people
The majority of the people living in the Everest region are the Sherpas. The culture of Sherpa people are similar to that of the Tibetans. The language they speak is also closely related to Tibetan spoken language. Sherpas are associated with mountain climbing and adventure trekking, which is also their main occupation and source of income. The villages of the Sherpa are uniquely built, they cling to mountain slopes and sit on top of steep hills.
Kala Patthar -the highest vantage point of the trek
While everybody thinks that Everest Base Camp is the highest point of the trek but it is not, Kala Patthar is. It is at an elevation of 5643m and you can see panoramic views of the majestic mountains. Mt. Pumori feels really near from Kala Patthar, which is merely a ridge that acts as a transit to get to the base of Pumori. The visible mountains from Kala Patthar are Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, and Khumbutse.
