Basic accommodation: In this, the travelers sleeps in public campsites. The bathroom facilities are shared with fellow travelers at the camp. Travelers travel together in our own vehicle, with our own driver-guide and a chef who prepares all food.

Excellent Safari Company from India
We booked two safaris through this company. The first was a 4-day safari to Masai Mara in a 4×4 Land Cruiser; the second was a 1-day safari to Hell’s Gate & Lake Naivasha in a mini van. Both bookings were completed entirely online, although we made phone calls the day before the safari to ensure that there were no issues. We did not book the Hell’s Gate safari until we returned from the Masai Mara trip. The booking staff are quick to respond to emails, professional in providing details of the proposed safari, upfront about extra costs, and helpful in terms of special requests–we had two vegetarians in our group who were anxious about having their needs met. For the first safari, George was appointed, who turned out to be excellent. Not only was he great at spotting the animals, including a kill on our second day, but he was professional in respecting the animals. We saw everything except a rhino, (no one seemed to see one as they are rare and elusive), including numerous cheetah and lions. However, we noticed some other companies’ drivers interfering with the animals’ movement. George clearly was opposed to such practices, as were we. George was always early for any meeting and took steps to ensure our safety and comfort throughout the trip. We met other travelers with The Tour Basket who reported similar experiences with their drivers. The 4×4 is worth the extra cost for game drive experiences.

Tanzania Wildlife Safari: A lifetime experience, thanks to Prachi and the staff at The Tour Basket
We (family of 4 adults from Bangalore) used The Tour Basket for organizing a 6-night Tanzania safari in June 2019. There are literally hundreds of safari operators in Tanzania and we could have dealt with them directly on the internet, but we felt it would be better to use a local Indian contact. In the end this turned out to be a great decision. At every step Prachi’s support was exceptional. We had multiple rounds of emails, phone calls and WhatsApp messages to tune the itinerary and fit things to suit our budget. Once that was settled, Prachi continued to help with arranging things like specific diet requirements, providing information and tips regarding flights, visas, vaccinations, insurance etc. We were quite picky on things like mentioning the exact safari start/end times, and Prachi was willing to accommodate all our whims. Most tour agents choose to stay out of the picture once your trip actually starts, but Prachi was checking with us every step on the way – she was constantly following up with us with questions like did you finish your visas, did you find the guide, how is the hotel etc. Quite remarkable – we have made several international trips in the past, and we have never had an agent with such a high level of engagement and commitment. One of the very few complaints we had on the trip was regarding hot water in one of the hotels, and out of annoyance we WhatsApp’d Prachi. Literally within minutes, we had a couple of guys from the hotel knocking at our door to fix the problem – and this was I think around 10pm India time. Just brilliant. The choice of safari operator, guide, accommodation and other arrangements etc. was all top-of-class for our budget, and we came away with the experience of a lifetime at Tanzania.
